MOULTRIE — James Everett Griner, 65, of Moultrie, died Tuesday, July 20, 2010, at Archbold Medical Center in Thomasville, Ga.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, July 22, at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Jimmy Voyles officiating. Interment will follow in Cobb Suncrest Memorial Gardens. Honorary casketbearers will be employees of Georgia Power Company and Hugh Matthews, Lawton Matthews and David Gibbs.

Born Jan. 21, 1945, in Tifton, he was the son of the late Manning Eston Griner and Eloise Young Griner. He retired as manager of the Moultrie office of Georgia Power Company, with 37 years of service. He was Citizen of the Year for Folkston-Charlton County in 1974, served as chairman of the Goals Program for Moultrie Tech from 1978-88, and served as president of the Moultrie Rotary Club for 1984-85. He was very active in the Moultrie-Colquitt County Chamber of Commerce for many years, as well as the Economic Development Corporation.

His family said, “His sense of humor and his friendship will be missed by a host of friends and family.”

Survivors include his wife, Mary Alice Connell Griner of Moultrie; two daughters, Angie Newsome and husband Neal and Amy Bennett and husband Daemon, all of Moultrie; one son, David Griner and wife Tina of Thomasville, Ga.; four grandchildren, Trey and Cameron Newsome, Trent Griner, and Kaely Bennett; one stepdaughter, Julie Harvey and husband Todd of Ridgeland, S.C.; one stepson, Mitch Britt and wife Joanne of Manchester, Ga.; three stepgrandchildren, Matthew Wise and Bryce and Beau Britt; one brother, Charlie Griner and wife Carolyn of Leesburg, Ga.; nieces and nephews, Tim Griner and Kathy and Darrell Ake.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, July 21, at Cobb Funeral Chapel.

Mildred Harrelson Guy Kolish, 88, of Folkston, passed away July 16 at Baptist Village Nursing Home in Waycross, Georgia. She was born in Screven Georgia to the late Ernest and Nola Pearson Harrelson. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Folkston. She was preceded in death by her first Husband: Mannie T. Guy and a daughter: Linda G. Chancey.

 

She is survived by her Husband: Paul Kolish; 2-Daughters: Talmadge Griner of Clewiston, FL, and Pat Ann Guy Blount of Hilliard, FL; 2:Sons: Wayne Guy of Glen St. Marys, FL and Ronnie Guy of Nahunta, GA; and 10-Grandchildren and numerous Great Grandchildren.

 

The family will receive friends Sunday, July18 at Shepard Funeral Home from 5-7 PM. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 19 at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church of Folkston with Rev. Don Patterson officiating. Burial will follow in Pineview Cemetery.

 

 

Bobby McInvale, 72, of Homeland, Georgia, passed away July 12 at his residence following a lengthy illness. He was born in Ware County Georgia to the late Nathaniel and Sara Jane Melton McInvale. He was a member of Peoples Baptist Church in Folkston.

He is survived by his wife: Linda Jean Griffin McInvale; a Daughter: Liz Seyler; 2-Sons: Bryan McInvale and Keith McInvale; 3-Sisters: Nancy Hodge, Mildred (Willie) Johns, and Betty Mae Johns; 7-Grandchildren: Danny McInvale, Robbie McInvale, Sarah Karlbom, Caleb Dinkins, Nick Seyler, Chris Seyler and Justin Williams; and a Great Grandson: Dilan Andrew McInvale.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 13 at Shepard Funeral Home from 6-8 PM Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 14 at 11:00 AM at Peoples Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Easter and Dr. Reggie Herrin officiating. Burial will follow in Homeland Cemetery.

Mr. Lewis Eddie Hicks, 76, of Bryceville, Florida passed away at his residence following an extended illness. He was born in Bryceville to the late Eddie Lee Hicks and Hazel Jane Green Hicks. He retired from Terminal Bag Company. He was preceded in death by his wife: Shirley Crews Hicks.

He is survived by his son: Wade Hicks of Bryceville, FL; 3-Daughters: Audrey (Pete) Lauramore of MacClenney, FL, Latrelle (Mose) Jewell of Sanderson, FL, and Denise (Buddy) Hill of Bryceville, FL; a Brother: Kelly (Geraldine) Hicks; a Sister: Doris Evelyn (Douglas) Hodges; 8-Grandchildren, 20-Great Grandchildren, 3-Great Great Grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

The family will receive friends Sunday, July 11 at Shepard Funeral Home in Folkston, GA from 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 12 at 11:00 AM at the St. George Church of God with Rev. Grady Albritton and Rev. James Conner officiating. Burial will follow in Boones Creek Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Robbie Jewell, Jody Jewell, Micheal Hicks, Travis Hill, Timmy Johns, and David Chisholm.
