I don't know about anyone else, but I use to look forward to buying the CC Herald every week and catching up on the "local"
news. Lately, there isn't alot of news about Charlton County, lots of articles from other folks about general information. We
get the board of education minutes every once in awhile, very little school news (when in session) lots of ads. It
is very boring, to say the least. I for one, don't purchase the paper like I use to. comments: A few
years ago The asst.Suprt Dr Aurthur retired. Her pos. was never filled. Mr Dinkins took on some of her duties. He
was paid for part time but he worked full time. The asst super job was/is still in the budget. Dr larisey IS the
RIGHT PERSON for the job!!!!! Josh howard IS the RIGHT PERSON to run the HS. YOU can fuss and complain
but, THANK GOD you don't matter. I think more of the dirt under my shoe than I do of you who don't like the way
things are. The truth is that what is done is done for the best of the SCHOOL. If you do not like it

If the jobs were posted for 14 days, then I was wrong stand corrected. Thanks for the info. I am glad they did that the right
way. Hopefully the right, qualified candidates got the jobs. . comments: The Board of Education
should not have to actively seek minority candidates for the Assoc. Superintendant and High School Principal positions. THAT
IS RACISM. If the positions were properly advertised, minorities should actively seek the positions. Then the most qualified

for everyone, but I only learned of this when I read it in the Charlton Co. Herald last week that Dr. Lairsey was the new
AS and I have only seen on this site that Dr. Howard was the new High School Principle. Maybe I missed Boots Dinkins retirement
being anounced in a earlier edition, if I did that then I admit I'm wrong. It may have been public knowledge by word of mouth,

posted here. Wow!!!! The intent was not to angry rail fans or business owners who benefit from this tourist
attraction, but to emphasize the fact that there obviously are no City Ordnances to regulate businesses in this town. If

to forget about the taxpayers who live here, work here and cater to someone that visits our town 1 weekend a year? I
don't get it - why can't we encourage the business owners who have less attractive establishments to make their businesses

why an Associate Superintendant (AS) needed. This county ONLY has four schools. Is the superintendant that busy? With a tight
budget, I hust believe that salary could be better spent elsewhere. (New books, teacher supplies, etc.) Heck, I bet you could
hire two additional teachers with that one salary. Even if the need for a AS can be substantiated, why is the job
just given to someone and the job not advertised? The same can be said for the High School Principle position. Why is that

to make sure the right person(s) are chosen from a pool of possible qualified candidates. It also cuts down on the perception

I don't know what the position of Assistant Superintendent does; however, I thought it was County policy now that if a teacher
resigns/retires they are not replaced; why was Mr. Dinkins replaced? Teachers are in the classroom, the Assistant
Superintendent is not. Why is his job more important than that of a teacher? Maybe we could send some students

should remain vacant. Besides, it was created for him when he was displaced as principal of the Bethune Elementary
in the late 70's. I was a student and his sister Taska served as our UNOFFICIal principal. She thought she ran everything
at the school. BoE is a good of boy system, but I gotta givem credit for how they balance their budgets. We
have board members as dumb as the county commissioners and are too stupid to identify what's happening. The best
thing they got going is Pender. What they need to do is hire the next supt outside the system using a qualified search professional.

in the state, and that is with the associate superintendent's position filled. I am just thankful that no teachers

could have freed up some funds for other purposes.For example,bus monitors.Some of those drivers sure need them if not all
of them.The bus radioes needs up grading,because what I have heard from some of the drivers,is that they some times can not
hear the other drivers even if they are parked right next to them.They also said the cameras on the buses needs up grading
as well.To me that is important because a students may some times lie but a camera will not.These are a few example,but I'm

priviledge of teaching 7th and 8th grade students this year. I have taught these same students since they were
in the 3rd grade and need something new to offer them. Teaching basic guitar would offer the students a skill that
they could enjoy for relaxation and pleasure for their entire lives. I can meet the state requirements for this
subject area and let students actively make music if I can find enough guitars. If you are looking for lessons,
I highly recommend Clint Wilson or Robert Wilson. Jess Nettles is a wonderful guitar player as well. We
have a wealth of talented musicians here in Charlton County! Again, if you can donate an acoustic guitar, please

when you will be starting. . Hi Jack Mays: I have been reading your history papers and when
you did the one about Mr. Billy Mizell I remembered when his deer attacked Mrs Mizell. My Father Jack Davis went to her rescue
along with some one else but I don't remember who. My Dad and the other guy put Mrs Mizell in a straight back chair and carried
her back to the house. You are right Mr Billy was a good man. He always treated my family with kindness.
I enjoy reading your blog. I never thought we had so many sore heads in Folkston, but it is fun to comment.
